IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world’s largest computer company. IBM’s product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) has entered into a new five-year, multi-million dollar outsourcing deal with Chile’s LAN Airlines. Under the contract, information technology (IT) services will span management, operation and control of LAN’s core IT platform, and will also include security services Security services are state institutions for the provision of intelligence, primarily of a strategic nature, but also including protective security intelligence. Examples include the Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) in the United Kingdom, and the and the execution of an innovation centre.

With direct communication to IBM’s global development centres, the innovation centre will serve as a hub for developing new ideas and enable LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The “clients” are the user’s workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used. to stay current with the new advances in technology in the aviation and travel industry, the company said.
